Hello I am Rebeca, the Founder of Casa Koya

I am a Portuguese native with over fifteen years as an emergency medicine nurse and nearly a decade of global experience, I discovered my calling when I transformed Casa Koya into what it is now. Having witnessed the impact of diseases, stress, and burnout on individuals and families in demanding medical environments, I felt a deep desire to offer a solution.

Casa Koya emerged as my dream realized—a sanctuary where guests can escape the strains of daily life.

With my Health and Wellness Coaching studies at Duke University and Board Certification as a Wellness Coach, my mission is to bring a unique blend of medical expertise and holistic wellness to Casa Koya. My journey from the high-stress world of emergency nursing to the tranquil haven of Casa Koya reflects my commitment to inspiring others on their path to well-being and inner harmony. In embracing nature and holistic wellness, individuals and families find solace, reconnecting with themselves and each other. I continue to be dedicated to my growth and learning to fuel Casa Koya's mission to be a beacon of transformation and rejuvenation for all who seek it.

Meet Your Hosts

Hi there! I am Maria, a practitioner of Chinese Medicine

I grew up in Lisbon and discovered my passion for Chinese Medicine in 2008, leading me to complete a five-year course at the Chinese Medicine School in Lisbon. During my studies, I gained a strong understanding of ancestral medicine. I completed an internship at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in China, where I worked in a hospital and had the opportunity to learn from different doctors with varying approaches to this ancient art. Since 2014, I have been practicing Chinese Medicine in Lisbon.

I promote health and longevity using a combination of acupuncture, massage, cupping, moxibustion, herb administration, and dietetics to achieve the best possible results for each patient. As with any medical practice, it's essential to keep updating one's knowledge, so I try to learn new approaches and techniques by participating in different training sessions every year. At our unique retreat, I will lead a workshop and be your practitioner for personalized treatments.

Hello, I am Adriana

I am a Yoga Teacher and Shiatsu/Massage Therapist. I teach Hatha Yoga and Aerial Yoga in my studio, Malveira da Serra, Cascais. My passion for Yoga arose simultaneously with the course of my practice while I experienced an inner dive and a profound transformation.

I am certified by Lusofona University (2019, Curso de Introdução ao Yoga), by Associação Europeia de Terapias Orientais (2019, Yoga Teacher Training 200H), and by Espaço Amar (2021, Curso de Shiatsu Terapêutico).

Nowadays, I love to live between ocean and mountains and enjoy the simple things in life like sunbathing, swimming, the contact with nature, sunsets and inner peace. I now embrace my service to the world, helping other people nourish their hearts, minds, and bodies.

Welcome! My name is Remy Rebecca, and I will lead the Herbalism workshops here at Casa Koya

I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease, Hashimoto’s, at 16, and it seems I have been on a roller-coaster ever since. I was told I would need to take a pill every day for the rest of my life, and everything would be fine. That is not the case. Over the years, I have realized that it is a much more complicated but exciting journey, and I started to look at a holistic approach to my health.

I completed my degree in biology and became aware of my love for the natural world.

I have also studied Phytotherapy at the Chinese School of Medicine and completed the Soul to Soil PDC with Sarah Wu, which deepened my relationship with plants and made me want to understand and have more of a personal relationship with them. I also have a few certifications in herbal studies, such as medicine making (Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine), mastering herbal formulations, and herbal care for stress management (Herbal Academy).

I was born in the South of Portugal, where my home is in the hills and surrounded by nature. I love long hikes around the countryside and being outside. I also like to connect with like-minded people and value my time with friends and family.

I could go on - but I'll leave it when we all get together.
