Join us in December for a transformative Silent Retreat at Casa Koya, nestled in the serene Alentejo region. This retreat is an invitation to step away from the noise, embrace silence, and reconnect with your inner self. It’s the ideal way to end the year with clarity and begin the new year with renewed energy and purpose.

YOGA & MOVEMENT

Daily yoga and movement set amidst the lush greenery and open skies, our shala will provide a harmonizing yoga practice.

Accommodation

Casa Koya offers five beautifully appointed rooms, three of which are spacious and luxurious suites, while the other two are non-suite rooms. All of our rooms are designed to provide maximum comfort, with luxury beds and top-quality linens ensuring a restful night's sleep.

The rooms are carefully decorated with a blend of antique and modern styles, featuring a minimalist aesthetic that enhances the natural beauty of the surrounding environment. Each room has large windows that invite natural light, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere that inspires relaxation and tranquility.

Some of the rooms also feature a terrace, where you can relax and soak up the stunning views of the surrounding landscape from the comfort of your chair. We pride ourselves on creating a healing environment, and our rooms are designed to promote restful sleep, being free of electronic devices that can interfere with your relaxation.

What to expect

During our Three Day Silence is Golden Retreat, you will receive the gift of silence as you dive deep into your inner world.
 

We will practice silent meditation, Yin Yoga, forest bathing with candlelight, journal-making, and time off so that you can connect (or reconnect) with your truest self. 
 

You will have the option to experience this retreat as a group or with yourself as we are here to support you throughout your time practicing silence.

Each day will begin as the sun rises where we will sit in the yoga shala in silence followed by a morning juice freshly squeezed from the tree with light refreshments to follow. Then we will move into our daily yoga practice with a beautiful bountiful brunch waiting for us after class. 

Throughout the late morning and afternoon, you will have the option to relax, experience a sound bath, take part in our daily creative workshops, or bask in the sun next to our pool surrounded by nature. 

We will end the day with a homemade dinner, yoga nidra class, and journaling so you can ease your way into a sleep of silence. 


Whether you're from an English or Portuguese-speaking country, this retreat is for you as all offerings are spoken in both languages.

Two Wholesome Meals

While on retreat at Casa Koya, you will be cooked two nourishing wholesome meals every day with Portuguese-inspired cuisine cooked by our two local chefs.

We have two beautiful dining areas at Casa Koya. You can enjoy a meal on the outdoor terrace, and surround nature, or in the spacious dining room inside. 

Our 
large open-concept kitchen is equipped with all the necessary appliances and cooking utensils if you want to make a midnight snack or store any food while staying with us.

Please let us know of your dietary needs upon booking so that we can cook meals that nourish you.

You feel like you just can't shut off the noise and need to take a step back from your upbeat life so that your soul can be in silence to experience the nourishment your body is calling for. You will have the choice to sit in silence in your room, in nature, or by the pool.

Maybe you work a stressful job, your phone notifications are constantly going off, or you are surrounded by friends, family, and life obligations. Our Silence is Golden Retreat invites you to shut off the external world so that you can bathe in the internal one.

You are seeking inner guidance and wisdom

When the world around us is too loud, it becomes difficult to hear what is going on within. Rumi tells us that what you seek is seeking you so if your body is telling you to listen then join us in Alentejo to immerse yourself in the silence that our retreat and nature provides.

A day in the life while on retreat

8:00 AM -  Wake up and Practice Silent Meditation

 

9:00 AM - Freshly Squeezed Juice and Light Refreshments

9:15 AM - Optional Yoga Practice

 

10:30 AM - Beautiful Bountiful Brunch

 

12:00 PM - Time Off

 

1:30 PM - 4:30 PM - Relaxing Afternoon with Sound Healing, Shiatsu Treatment, or Forest Bathing

Hello I am Rebeca, the Founder of Casa Koya

I am a Portuguese native with over fifteen years as an emergency medicine nurse and nearly a decade of global experience, I discovered my calling when I transformed Casa Koya into what it is now. Having witnessed the impact of diseases, stress, and burnout on individuals and families in demanding medical environments, I felt a deep desire to offer a solution.

Casa Koya emerged as my dream realized—a sanctuary where guests can escape the strains of daily life.

With my Health and Wellness Coaching studies at Duke University and Board Certification as a Wellness Coach, my mission is to bring a unique blend of medical expertise and holistic wellness to Casa Koya. My journey from the high-stress world of emergency nursing to the tranquil haven of Casa Koya reflects my commitment to inspiring others on their path to well-being and inner harmony. In embracing nature and holistic wellness, individuals and families find solace, reconnecting with themselves and each other. I continue to be dedicated to my growth and learning to fuel Casa Koya's mission to be a beacon of transformation and rejuvenation for all who seek it.

Meet Your Hosts

Hello, I am Adriana

I am a Yoga Teacher and Shiatsu/Massage Therapist. I teach Hatha Yoga and Aerial Yoga in my studio, Malveira da Serra, Cascais. My passion for Yoga arose simultaneously with the course of my practice while I experienced an inner dive and a profound transformation.

I am certified by Lusofona University (2019, Curso de Introdução ao Yoga), by Associação Europeia de Terapias Orientais (2019, Yoga Teacher Training 200H), and by Espaço Amar (2021, Curso de Shiatsu Terapêutico).

Nowadays, I love to live between ocean and mountains and enjoy the simple things in life like sunbathing, swimming, the contact with nature, sunsets and inner peace. I now embrace my service to the world, helping other people nourish their hearts, minds, and bodies.

Joint foraging walk where we explore some of the tasty and medicinal herbs and spices to use in our dishes 

 

Collaborative approach where you create your dishes – together with us 

 

Surprise or celebratory breakfast, lunch or dinner. 

 

We'd absolutely love to explore with you what kind of event and engagement would work best for you! We're truly passionate about food and we would like to make sure that everything we serve is as locally sourced, seasonal, organic, biodynamic and foraged as possible! Let me tell you a bit about Kerstin! She's a qualified mediator and facilitator with a real passion for permaculture farming and holistic management. She also loves growing her own veg and going for long foraging walks in the beautiful, peaceful countryside – especially with her lovely dog, Chocolate! A little bit about Rhys! He is a published author on conscious living and human development, and he is also a trained coach! Rhys is an entrepreneur at heart, pragmatic, solution-oriented, and a passionate chef who loves experimenting with foraged foods, connecting and sharing with people.
